  • The Centura Health South Denver EMS Team is proud to announce two of the top 10 EMS Innovators for 2011 included our very own EMS Educator David Reinis and QA/Research Specialist Mary (Clancy) Meyers. Clancy and Dave are being recognized at the JEMS EMS Today Conference in Baltimore, MD on March 1st, 2012.

Dave and Clancy's efforts are an inspiration - and a challenge - to all of us in our continuing efforts to strive for consistent and never-ending improvement in pursuit of our goal to partner with EMS providers to improve patient care and outcomes.

Also the Prehospital Care Research Forum (PCRF) held its annual research presentation/competition at the EMS Today Conference in Baltimore, MD.  This year 46 research abstracts from across the nation were submitted for consideration.  The PCRF selected 20 of these abstracts for poster presentations with the top four being presented in an oral presentation as well (see complete list and description below).  Out of these top four, a single research abstract was selected as the best research of 2012.

This year, the South Denver EMS Team's Center for Quality, Integration and Research (CEQIR) - representing Porter, Littleton/Castle Rock and Parker Adventist Hospitals - submitted 5 abstracts.  All five were accepted for presentation - with two of the abstracts selected for oral presentation to conference participants (roughly 3,000 EMS professionals from all over the world in attendance).

Selected as the best research project for 2012 was the South Denver Group's EMS team's submission Incidence of Cryptic Shock in EMS Patients.   This is the second year in a row the Porter, Littleton/Castle Rock and Parker Adventist Hospital EMS team has received the top research award from UCLA.  Other abstracts submitted by our EMS team included:

    1. Decreasing Door to Antibiotic Administration Time in Septic Shock Patients Utilizing an EMS Sepsis Alert - Poster & Oral Presentation
    2. Are Paramedics Allowing Patients to Inappropriately Influence Transport Destination - Poster Presentation
